Episode 11 Impressions: Nanana’s Buried Treasure

The big conclusion kicks off as the fight against Ikusaba continues.  While things look rather grim, it seems Tensai has a rather interesting strategy to put into play in order to save them from their predicament.

e11nanana8Synopsis
Following Juugo’s brutal beating, Tensai brings Ikusaba to a halt by firing off a gun that she kept hidden away.  Though only containing rubber bullet, she assures the pain that would be involved in being hit by one.  While this doesn’t phase Ikusaba, the other card Tensai holds is much more convincing.

Claiming that she knows the weakness of not only his boots, but also his ring he uses to cause Juugo dire pain, she offers a temporary truce and end to the battle in exchange for her silence.  Noting that if Juugo understood this weakness, he’d bear his fangs once again.

Thoughts
Overall I was rather entertained by this episode.  However that’s just viewing it as an episode, and not as a final episode.  To be honest, viewing this as a finale paints a completely different picture.  Nothing was solved and nothing was concluded in this story.  While I’ll leave my entire impressions for a review, you can gather that it won’t be pretty.  Sure we can chop it up as a manga transition or a possible second season, but that’s not promised or an option for some.

e11nanana4I did enjoy Nanana and Juugo’s final scene together.  It painted a much better picture for them as a couple and left me with a subtle smile.  Just seeing her response to the bickering outside was cute and rewarding to a lackluster series.  I just wish more of these scenes happened throughout the series.  I honestly felt like this was an episode 2 scene, not a final episode scene.

The scene between Tensai and Juugo was also cute following the battle.  It really showed Tensai’s unique side to her while also adding to their odd relationship.  In the end, Tensai was a fantastic character trapped within a show that didn’t have enough of her.  If only we had a series devoted to her.  Sherlock Tensai anyone?
