Mamoru Hosoda Announces Next Film “The Boy and the Beast”


Mamoru Hosoda, the director behind Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, has announced his latest project. During a Tokyo press conference it was announced that “Bakemono no Ko” (The Boy and the Beast) will open in Japan on July 11th, 2015.

theboyandthebeastfeatrBeing developed by Studio Chizu that brought us Wolf Children, it takes place between the human realm and the bakemono realm. One day when a boy is separated by his parents, he ends up getting lost in the bakemono realm. After meeting a lonely bakemono named Kumatetsu, the boy is renamed Kyouta and becomes his desciple.

Mamoru Hosoda, who created the script for the movie, has stated that the theme is, “Are they going to be father and son…?” The poster is titled, “A new action adventure flick.”
