Five Anime in Spring 2015 You Shouldn’t Miss

The Spring 2015 Season is definitely providing us with a wide variety of flavors in genres. Many shows which people should take note of. Whether it’s for the insanity of it, story, world, or beauty. There’s so much to offer, if you know where to look.

With that said, here are five anime in the Spring 2015 Season that you probably shouldn’t miss. Or at least give a shot. The only limit to this list is that shows that are continuations are not included. So no Fate/stay, no Nisekoi, no SNAFU. Keep in mind that this is a recommendation list and doesn’t mean that it will match everyone’s list. This list is for fun and informant purposes only and not meant to discourage other’s taste in anime. Though I guess saying that never seems to keep people from being offended.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan

Last season left us with a taste of some good world building in a fantasy setting with Yona of the Dawn.  Seemingly picking up right where they left off, we get the epic return of the story of Arslan.  The Heroic Legend of Arslan was originally an OVA released back in the 90s, but this retelling manages to shake off quite a bit of issues that the old telling had.  Given a little more time to work with, our hope is that this telling will not feel so rushed.  So far, it seems to be working.

The story follows a young and naive prince named Arslan who finds his kingdom under attack by a rising force.  After the tides of a battle shift in the favor of the enemy, Arslan is separated and nearly killed by a betrayer.  Now gathering allies, he seeks to reclaim what is his.  With its good visuals even in battle, interesting characters, and tragic circumstances, it’s definitely not a show to miss.  Especially for those of us who just can’t get enough fantasy.

Punch Line!

Now, now, now!  Don’t shut the door so quickly.  While Punch Line was indeed sold on its pervy assets, it’s by no means a complete waste of time.  Sure, it doesn’t shy away from being pervy, but to sell it short because of that is a mistake.  Buried under the first few episodes of constant panty humor is some clever writing.  To be honest, beyond those first few episodes, the focus has completely shifted away from panty shots and gives more focus to the dark circumstances the main character deals with and just how he can possibly put an end to it.

Avoiding spoilers along the way, let’s get into the plot (no pun intended). The story follows Yuuta who suddenly finds himself separated from his body. Not only that, but he seems to have some kind of ability to become powerful if he sees women’s underwear. Oh, and there’s also the aspect of becoming too excited causes a meteor to destroy the world.

Blood Blockade Battlefront

Blood Blockade Battlefront is definitely turning out to be quite a gem for the season. Boasting such a creative and interesting world that sucks you in. All while giving a fun, jazzy, and entertaining feel to the note of shows like Durarara, Baccano, and Cowboy Bebop. The characters are interesting, it never tries too hard to overwhelm plot, and it just takes its time and shows you how its chaotic world works.

It takes place in what used to be New York City. After being eaten away by the alterworld, what’s left is what’s called Hellsalem’s Lot. An intersection of otherworldly beings and humans. Leonardo, being one such human, finds himself gifted with all-seeing eyes and joins the Libra organization in order to find answers. An organization that keeps the balance of powers in tact within Hellsalem’s Lot.

Sound! Euphonium

Kyoto Animation is at it again! Producing absolutely gorgeous visuals and adorable characters for you to watch have fun. However this is no K-On. While it does have some clever and fun humor, it also doesn’t shy from a good bit of slice-of-life drama. In the form of Brass Bands!

Euphonium follows Kumiko as she begins her new life in High School.  While she attempted at first to discard Brass Band playing as she did before, she’s soon swept back into it after meeting classmates Sapphire and Hazuki.  Though Brass Band life isn’t so easy as they are introduced to a new instructor this year who takes his job seriously.
