Re: New around these parts

I feel as though I can easily find myself wanting to have my heartstrings pulled at every turn in a world i know is far from real but somehow Entices me more than live action shows. Like the romance drama aspect of toradora Sounds like we're of similar minds there :). Truth be told, I did start out...

Re: Thread on All Key Anime (adaptations and originals)

Yoshino's past as a rock singer until his career end due to drugs, and all through that Kouko Ibuki never gave up on him. Agreed, that backstory was very touching. It didn't come to mind for me because the Tomoya/Nagisa (and later Ushio) relationship practically eclipsed everything else past ep...

Re: 349) How Deconstruction Invaded Anime

I've never heard it being used as Metalevel. I've always known it as self-referencing or being itself within itself. An anime about making anime (Shirobako), or a show about a creator being created within its story about creating (Re:Creators). I would agree that Shirobako and Re:Creators are meta ...

Re: New around these parts

Welcome to the crew, matey (Gosh, played too much Heroes of the Storm lately... Blackheart's Bay)! Good to see you found your way here, and I hope you enjoy your time. I was so interested in hearing you guys discuss what I can barely speak to my friends about because they "don't do anime" ...

*yes, he ignored making a decision* Think again . The choice must be made. Not sure what you mean by the second part. She's known by many names including that? But hey, I haven't seen the original in forever so you probably know better than I. I'm positive that at least in the dubbed version, the o...

Re: Thread on All Key Anime (adaptations and originals)

Oh, no, I didn't mean as in following faithfully the VN, but more like fitting it for the anime Oh, OK, gotcha. I can see there are some parts in this arc with the potential to hit the viewer pretty hard - it just didn't do it for me (not as much, anyways). I didn't expect that the very next episod...

Re: Name A Character Similar to Mine

It's been quite a while since I last found myself agonizing this much over my judgement call. Seriously, this one is pretty darn close. Miu clearly has the martial arts background going for her, plus I think she resembles Yui a bit more appearance-wise. Misaki, on the other hand, shares Yui's reject...

Re: Watch along: Kill-La-Kill

As it seems I'm ahead of the pack (or maybe it's just that nobody wants to talk to me ::alone::), I decided to take a time-out yesterday. Now I'm back on track, heading for the series' finale. Episode 23 This episode pretty much amounts to one big battlefest, which means not too much of interest for...

Re: 349) How Deconstruction Invaded Anime

That was a pretty long-winded explanation on art to start things off ;). Not that that's a bad thing. I consider anime series a form of art - everyone takes away from it what they want. It's just a much more straightforward art form than, say, paintings because animes usually have a clear-cut story ...

Re: Thread on All Key Anime (adaptations and originals)

KyoAni adapted it well, I thought, from the VN. That's interesting – if by "well," you mean "closely," I actually had quite a different impression. Didn't the anime invent the whole Youhei-posing-as-Yukine's-brother setup from scratch? And the gang hideout? At least I ca...
