There's nothing wrong with how you're thinking. You made the distinction between shows with female protagonists and shoujo romance shows. You just don't like the genre, not the fact that they have female protagonists. I don't like chick flicks, but that doesn't mean I don't like women main characters.

That much is true, at least. I don't have any problem with female leads - for instance, I thought Akane in Psycho-Pass was an amazing character. She had to grow as an inspector and earn the respect of her male peers, yet the anime also showed off her girlish side from time to time.
