I have 4 theories:
Spoiler:
1. Prequel set during Calamity War - from what I've seen most people in Gundam community really want to see that.
2. Totally original sequel with new cast set years after 2nd season.
3. Series following Ride Mass and other Tekkadan members that decided to avange fallen comrades with less than peaceful means.
4. Show following Mika son, Akatsuki.

This is insanely big and unexpected news. It turns out that announced Code Geass sequel will be a single movie with February 2019 premiere.

A very underrated franchise of Patlabor now has its own day dedicated to it in Japan.
