Episode 5 Impressions: Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

The balance of powers continues to run chaotic as Heaven’s forces attempt to contain the power of the unleashing Bahamut. Creating a large seal around it and desperately awaiting reinforcements.

Now within the flying castle Gregor, Kaisar pleas for the life of Amira who is being interrogated for information. Azazel finds this a bit amusing and informs Kaisar of the true identity of the women he seeks to protect. Her stealing the God Key, and their desire to find out just how she did it and who she’s working with.

Elsewhere Favaro is talked into going after Amira and Kaisar thanks to a determined (and strong arming) Rita. Although the only way to get to the flying ship is by forcing Bacchus to allow them to use his carriage. Though in order to show him his determination, he shatters his bounty hunter bracelet.

Once on Gregor, Rita and Favaro rush to find Amira only to end up having a run in with a very emotional Kaisar who seeks to take his revenge.

e5rageofbahamutgenesis09A solid episode filled with some good action and silly comedy thrown in. I still absolutely love the chemistry that Rita adds to the mix. Even with a grim situation, she doesn’t break the mood with overly silly antics, but rather subtle snarky actions.

It was interesting to see the identity of the one who tricked Amon into sabotaging the caravan, although I’m getting a bit sick of them dragging out Kaisar’s issues with Favaro. Even on a ship filled with demons that want them dead, he’s still going foolishly after Favaro. It just doesn’t make sense to the situation at all and broke a lot of the tension already in place.

The late arrival of the holy knights made for a pretty epic climax to the episode. Seeing Gregor cut in two by the closing of the gate was a bit unexpected and amazing. I also thought their tactics of turning thrown boulders into magical fireballs with runes was cool.

Hopefully in the next episode we will finally see a conclusion to Kaisar’s issues with Favaro and more details on what is hidden within Amira.  With a new undead dragon in tow, we might even get to their destination!  But I think I’m asking for a bit too much.

Episode 5: Rescue in Sword Valley

  • Zombie dragons
  • Climactic battle
  • Well placed humor

  • Kaisar getting annoying
  • Conclusion felt a bit rushed
